When I received the Prevnar injection, it was inadvertently injected into the subacromial bursa, not the deltoid due to poor injection placement.; inflammatory reaction/into the right subacromial bursa; This is a spontaneous report received from a Physician. A 65-year-old male patient received pneumococcal 13-val conj vac (dipht CRM197 protein) (PREVNAR 13), on 22Mar2025 at 13:00 as dose 1, single (Batch/Lot number: unknown) at the age of 65 years, in right upper arm for immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history included: "Hypertension" (unspecified if ongoing); "hyperlipidemia" (unspecified if ongoing); "reactive airways disease" (unspecified if ongoing); "allergy: Latex" (unspecified if ongoing); "Allergy: sulfa" (unspecified if ongoing); "pneumonia" (unspecified if ongoing), notes: two times in the last 18 months. There were no concomitant medications. Past drug history included: Ceclor, reaction(s): "allergy". The following information was reported: INCORRECT ROUTE OF PRODUCT ADMINISTRATION (non-serious) with onset 22Mar2025, outcome "recovering", described as "When I received the Prevnar injection, it was inadvertently injected into the subacromial bursa, not the deltoid due to poor injection placement."; VACCINATION SITE INFLAMMATION (non-serious) with onset 22Mar2025, outcome "recovering", described as "inflammatory reaction/into the right subacromial bursa". Therapeutic measures were taken as a result of vaccination site inflammation Additional information: When he received the Prevnar injection, it was inadvertently injected into the subacromial bursa, not the deltoid due to poor injection placement. Due to the inflammatory reaction, he was treated with a subacromial inaction of triamcinolone into the right subacromial bursa on 24Mar2025. He received a 4 mg Medrol dosepak on 28Apr2025 for 6 days of treatment. None of this was the fault of Pfizer.
