Describe Event, Problem, or Product Use Error: There has been an increase of incident of needlestick injuries within our nursing staff involving the compounding of the rabies vaccine. The kit that is provided by the manufacturer includes 2 needles and the syringe to reconstitute and administer the drug. There currently is a lack of recommendation on how to exchange the needles without the need of recapping used needles. The recapping of used needle poses a high risk to needlestick injuries and therefore should be avoided when possible.
