Symptom narrative

Patient presented to the pharmacy on Monday 8/25/25 around 3pm, stating that she is experiencing an allergic reaction to the Shingles vaccine that was administered on Saturday 8/23/25. She stated that her arm was "extremely itchy and it felt like a ball was under the vaccination site". Her left upper arm appeared swollen and hard to touch. The band-aid from Saturday still remained on and the area around it was swollen. The area of her skin under the band-aid was red in color and around 2x1 inch in size. The Pharmacist notified her primary care doctor, and he advised us to tell her to come in to the office so that it can be examined. After examination, he determined that it was indeed an adverse reaction to the vaccine and proceeded to prescribe the patient Prednisone 20mg tablets and Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05% ointment.
