Symptom narrative

Patient presented to the emergency department with history of one episode of bloody diarrhea and several episodes of bilious and non-bilious emesis. An abdominal X-ray showed concern for small bowel obstruction, and an abdominal ultrasound was consistent with intussusception. She underwent reduction procedure with air enema and received supportive care. Patient was discharged after approximately 36 hours in the hospital once eating and stooling appropriately.
