Injection site bruising

Symptom narrative

The patient came in the store today to show me her arm after she received her flu vaccine on 9/24/25 and revealed bruising from the injection site down to her elbow that was honestly quite alarming looking. She said that she woke up with the bruising the morning after the vaccine was administered. The patient said that the bruising was not painful and had pictures to reference from when the bruising first appeared and it looks like it is starting to yellow/ get better. What I am assuming that happened is that during administration a blood vessel was nicked and since the patient is on blood thinners it caused extra bruising than normal. I told the patient to keep an eye on the bruising and if it gets darker/ worse/ isn't going away to contact her PCP to see if there are any extra steps that need to be taken.
