Symptom narrative

Injection was given too high on the arm, close to the shoulder. Immediately after vaccination, there was pain in the entire arm. It felt like my arm was heavy and a dull pain went through the entire arm. Pain was a constant 4-6 on a scale of 1-10. I didn't feel like I could use it and raising it up to drive home, I felt pain and it was heavy. Wasn't given clear instructions on whether to ice or add heat to the site; nurse said heat, then ice last. Took ibuprofen. Was told it would get better in about 2-4 days. It got worse. The next day, I couldn't change clothes or put hair in a pony tail without excruciation pain. Lifting or changing the angle at the shoulder was impossible. I could still bend my elbow and hands were fine. Applied ice, took ibuprofen (required 900mg/day), had to take 2 days off work. The next week I tried to use it normally and ended up with a visible red tear through the skin on the shoulder. Over the course of a month, it gradually got better. Now (9-28-2025) there is only a little stiffness left in the shoulder.
