Symptom narrative

Immediate onset of neurologic symptoms following vaccine administration on 09/25/2025. Symptoms included numbness involving the left axilla, forearm, and fingers, which resolved spontaneously within 48 hours. However, the patient continues to experience persistent, sharp, and intense pain in the left shoulder since the time of injection. The pain is exacerbated by shoulder movement. It is noted that the vaccine was administered in a location that was abnormally high and posterior on the upper arm. Photographic documentation of the injection site has been obtained for reference.

Lab data

I was evaluated by orthopedic surgeon Dr. on 09/25/2025 for persistent left shoulder pain following vaccine administration. Clinical concern was raised for possible iatrogenic injury due to improper injection technique, including potential injection into or near the rotator cuff tendons, particularly given the posterior and superior location of the injection site. Intra-articular injection could not be ruled out. I was started on a trial of Toradol and Robaxin for pain and inflammation management, with expectation of symptom improvement within 7 days. If no significant resolution of symptoms occurs, an MRI of the left shoulder will be obtained to further evaluate for structural damage.
