Symptom narrative

approximately 7 hours after receiving her dose the patient experienced itching on her right upper arm near the injection site, later she noticed her arm was "very red , hot to the touch, swollen and itchy". She applied hydrocortisone (HC) cream and went to bed. The next morning she applied more HC cream and noted the itching had stopped and the area was not at red or warm. By 4pm the swelling was much improved, and the itch was gone, however she called the pharmacy to find out "what happened?". At that point she decided to take a zyrtec tablet and agreed to contact her PCP if not resolved or worsens. By the 3rd day the area was "just a little red" and the itch and swelling were gone. She was advised to check in with her PCP before proceeding with other vaccines in the future.
