Symptom narrative

Mom describes that patient received 1 vaccine in each thigh, but both vaccines are documented given in the left thigh so unsure which vaccine was in each thigh. Patient was fussy, but nothing was noted until August. Patient fussy, legs tight, noted swelling in both thighs, right worse than left. Notable mass felt. saw primary doctor who ordered ultrasound. She was then referred to pediatric surgery for evaluation who agreed these are vaccine changes.

Lab data

Ultrasound done. US 8/26- Right anterior thigh superficial subcutaneous soft tissues in the region of interest there is a 1.9x1.2 cm heterogenous, finding without visualized internal color doppler flow, this may be related to injection related changes/injection granuloma or a hematoma. Clinical imaging and f/u to complete resolution are recommended to help excluse other etiologies such as pathological lymph node, an infectious/inflammatory process, or an indeterminate small neoplasm. If there is clinical concern and/or this fails to improve a pediatric surgery consultation is recommended. The left anterior thigh superficial subcutaneous soft tissues in the region of interest there is a 1.3 x0.4 cm mostly anechoic finding suspicious for small seroma, liquefied hematoma, and/or injection related changes, clinical follow-up to complete resolution is recommended to help exclude much less likely etiologies.
