Symptom narrative

Patient's left arm turned completely purple starting from left deltoid traveling around entire diameter of arm and down past elbow. It is hot to the touch and very painful. Facility obtained x-ray to ensure no breaks occured, ice and elevation. However, family requested doppler and ultrasound to ensure that bloodflow was not compromised, vascular checks routinely. Attending physician ordered MRI with contrast; facility scheduled this several weeks out from administration date. Family requested a sooner appointment - was obtained 10/2 without success due to patients inability to remain still; family requesting a repeat. Per nursing supervisor, CRNP will "order a drug similar to Valium" to assist with anxiousness and ability to ramain still in the MRI machine.
