Symptom narrative

itching intensified; raised lesions; This non-serious case was reported by a consumer via call center representative and described the occurrence of pruritus in a patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included shingles (had 3 years ago), ophthalmic herpes zoster (had ophthalmic herpes zoster with some corneal involvement), post herpetic neuralgia ( postherpetic neuralgia on my forehead and scalp which at this point mostly involves occasional twinges) and pain. Previously administered products included Valtrex (received on an unknown date). On an unknown date, the patient received Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced pruritus (Verbatim: itching intensified) and skin lesion (Verbatim: raised lesions). The outcome of the pruritus and skin lesion were not reported. It was unknown if the reporter considered the pruritus and skin lesion to be related to Shingles vaccine. It was unknown if the company considered the pruritus and skin lesion to be related to Shingles vaccine. Additional Information: GSK Receipt Date: 01-OCT-2025 The patient had shingles three years ago, but of course was unable to get the vaccine because was not at 50 years of age. The patient also was aware that there was an increased risk of recurrence with the shingles vaccine since had ophthalmic herpes zoster with some corneal involvement, so waited until speak to an ophthalmologist about what to do. The ophthalmologist recommended having a prescription for Valtrex so that took the antiviral at the first sign of a recurrence. Well, that was what happened patient had some postherpetic neuralgia on the forehead and scalp which at this point mostly involves occasional twinges of pain and severe itching, but two weeks after the shot, the itching intensified and raised lesions started to form at the site of the previous manifestation, so immediately started the antivirals, which was still taking. Hoping this did not reduce the efficacy of the vaccine. The batch number was not provided and we and unable to contact the reporter.
