Symptom narrative

Within 24 hours of receiving the Adacel (Tdap) vaccine, I developed severe vomiting, body aches, joint and muscle pain, weakness, sweating, fatigue, and a rapid heart rate. Putting me out of work. Over the next several days, additional symptoms appeared, including severe headache, dizziness, blurred vision, confusion, shortness of breath, unsteadiness when walking, light sensitivity, and loss of appetite with inability to eat or walk normally. Symptoms peaked around the third to fourth day after vaccination. I went to the emergency department, where bloodwork and a chest X-ray were normal. I was treated with IV fluids and Toradol, which provided partial relief. I ended up getting worse the day after the ED visit and was bedridden for another week. I continue to experience blurred vision, intermittent unsteadiness, rapid heart rate, and a strong pulsing sensation in my abdomen. Treatment: IV fluids and Toradol in the emergency department; rest, hydration, and supportive care at home. Outcome: Ongoing symptoms including blurred vision, unsteadiness, and rapid heart rate.

Lab data

Evaluated in the emergency department on October [19], approximately 3?4 days after vaccination due to severe muscle spasms, joint pain, weakness, blurred vision, and unsteadiness. Bloodwork: Complete blood count (CBC), comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and inflammatory markers were all within normal limits, showing no underlying infection or systemic inflammation. Chest X-ray: Normal; no evidence of infection or other abnormalities. Electrocardiogram (ECG): Normal sinus rhythm, no acute cardiac findings. Vital signs: Elevated heart rate noted; blood pressure and oxygen saturation were normal.
