Symptom narrative

Mother reported the area less painful now compared to this morning, not itchy. No other symptoms such as wheezing or trouble breathing. Picture sent earlier today shows several cm area of redness and induration left upper outer arm around injection site. Symptoms are improving since this morning. Dr. recommend cool compress, cetirizine or loratadine 10 mg daily until redness/swelling resolved. Patient can apply 1% or 2.5 % hydrocortisone cream twice a day, has at home. Providers suggest ibuprofen rather than Tylenol if area more painful since ibuprofen will also reduce inflammation. If Covid vaccine given next year, start antihistamine after given. Discussed Covid vaccine continues polyethylene glycol, ingredient in MiraLAX, so may want to avoid this as a laxative. Mother should call if not continued improvement in symptoms.
