The IZ nurse gave the 12 year old the HPV injection. He acknowledged that it hurt and then started to nod his head and felt dizzy. He didn't fully pass out. He got sweaty and nodded when asked if he didn't feel good. At this point he would nod or shake his head to questions, the nods and shaking of the head were appropriate to the questions and situation. He nodded when he was asked if he didn't want to speak. His mom was with him and another IZ nurse. The nurses put the patient's feet up then transferred him to a cot to lay down because he wasn't feeling better. He was still dizzy, sweaty and wouldn't speak. He was alert. at this point we called 911. while waiting for paramedics, he drank water and ate a cupcake without difficulty, mom said he hadn't eaten since 9am and it was almost 4pm. Paramedics arrived, they took his blood pressure, and it was good. Patient wouldn't talk to paramedics either but was able to wave "hi" when asked to say, "Hi," grinning while doing this. Mom said, "No." to going to the hospital. Paramedics cleared him and left. A few minutes later, patient sat on edge of cot and then stood without adverse reaction. Mom and patient left. They came back a few minutes later, he whispered, "Thank you." l
