Patient got his shots on 7/5/2024. He developed a small rash at the injection site as well as soreness. The next day, I contacted his pediatrician as he spiked a 105 fever, had a headache, body aches, and was screaming in pain. They told me it was an unrelated illness. I gave him Motrin and he settled. His fever continued for several days. We continued to treat with Motrin. Symptoms continued to progress. When his fever would spike, he would hallucinate, scream in pain, and scratch at his body feeling bugs crawling on him. On 7/10/24, he developed a full body rash reminiscent of a measles rash. We went into the pediatrician again on 7/11/24. We were continually told that all of these symptoms were completely unrelated to his vaccines. During the exam on 7/11, we were told that he likely had mono as his tonsils were also swollen now. We were given orders to get bloodwork done and earned that he may be sick for several weeks as he fights this virus. The next day, he woke up better with no more fever or rash. No one else in the family ever got sick despite having a 1 month old newborn in close proximity and me sharing a bed with Patient (so I could tend to him round the clock.)
