Symptom narrative

The needle of the syringe with the Influenza vaccine made light contact with the nurse's left posterior third finger prior to swiftly entering the client's right deltoid. The nurse asked the client to stay in the room for a few minutes and reported the incident to her Nursing Supervisor. After reporting to the Supervisor, the nurse explained the entire incident to the client, advised her to get HIV, Hep B, & Hep C labs drawn, assured her that the lab cost would be covered by the clinic, explained the rationale for the labs, and stated that she, too, (the nurse) will have labs drawn on behalf of the client's health and safety.
