Symptom narrative

Patient reported a history of syncope with blood draws, but not with vaccines before. Patient received seasonal flu vaccine in right deltoid and then first dose of varicella vaccine SQ in left upper arm. A few seconds after administration, patient said he was feeling funny. His face turned white, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and he lost consciousness for about 10 seconds. He had small convulsions during this time. RN called out for help, second RN came in. We supported him in the chair so he wouldn't fall over. He regained consciousness and had to be reoriented to where he was. We put ice packs on him, as he became diaphoretic after the event, and gave him apple juice. He slowly moved him to a recliner chair where he rested for about 20 minutes. He left on his own power.
