Symptom narrative

Patient presented with significant anxiety related to vaccine administration. After discussion with the medical assistant, the vaccine was administered. Immediately post-injection, the patient exhibited vasovagal symptoms, including diaphoresis, pallor, disorientation, and transient vision loss lasting approximately 3 minutes. Nursing assessment noted bilateral pupillary dilation. An attempt to obtain blood pressure was unsuccessful due to inability of the automated cuff to generate a reading. The patient was placed in a safe position and provided with oral fluids (water and juice) and crackers. Deep-breathing techniques were encouraged. Symptoms gradually resolved; pupillary size returned to baseline and the patient reported full restoration of vision without further complications.
