Symptom narrative

Urticaria developed throughout entire body 15-20 minutes after shot was given as patient was driving home. He had some anxiety and tachycardia with this. Patient returned to clinic just over an hour after shot was given and had no signs of anaphylaxis but had clear hives all over his body. Normal blood pressure.

Allergies

History of hives after taking amoxicillin. No other allergies. Denied any prior reaction to prior flu shots.

Lab data

Patient was evaluated by me (his doctor) and given 25 mg of benadryl in clinic. Monitored for 45 min and vitals were stable. Hives improved and patient sent home with close ER precautions if worsening symptoms. I called family several hours later and he was doing well.
