Symptom narrative

Administration was too high up on his shoulder; Vaccine site pain/Soreness; This is a spontaneous report received from an Other HCP from medical information team. A 62-year-old male patient received pneumococcal 20-val conj vac (dipht CRM197 protein) (PREVNAR 20), (Batch/Lot number: unknown). The patient's relevant medical history and concomitant medications were not reported. Vaccination history included: Flu shot (three weeks before), for immunization. The following information was reported: PRODUCT ADMINISTERED AT INAPPROPRIATE SITE (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "Administration was too high up on his shoulder"; VACCINATION SITE PAIN (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "Vaccine site pain/Soreness". Additional information: The reporter was asking if the Prevnar 20 injection had missed the muscle and was administered too high, and if the vaccine is still going to work. The patient stated that he experienced soreness and stated that the vaccination was administered too high, however his boss believed that his body should still absorb the product. The reporter stated he never had vaccine site pain like this. It was hard to sleep on his left arm. It felt different than other shots. He was told it was too high, it was supposed to be intramuscular, but it looked like went into some muscle, but probably injected in AC joint. No follow-up attempts are possible. Batch/lot number is not provided, and it cannot be obtained.
