Symptom narrative

I was administering a vaccine to a patient. Afterwards, I attempted to flip the safety mechanism closed on the needle. By mistake, the mechanism did not activate, so my left index flicked the needle and was punctured by the used needle. The patient was not placed at risk or exposed to any used needle.

Lab data

I underwent blood tests on 12/2/25 which showed negative results for Hepatitis B, HIV, and HCV. Hepatitis B titers indicated vaccination was needed, so I received the first vaccine of the series on 12/3/25. Will continue to follow up to see if the source patient can get bloodwork completed, and I will otherwise continue with follow-up bloodwork to ensure I was not exposed to any pathogens.
