Patient reports experiencing sharp, knife-like chest pains starting approximately one hour after receiving influenza vaccine. Pain was severe and persisted upon awakening the next morning. Pain has since decreased in intensity and frequency. It will last for a few minutes before subsiding. Additionally, she has experienced hives on her face (cheeks), facial tingling, and itching on face and arms after each meal she has eaten since vaccination. Denies shortness of breathing, swelling of throat, lips, or mouth. Has not experienced adverse reaction to any vaccine in the past. Patient was given albuterol treatment at urgent care this morning, prescribed steroids, antihistamine, and was referred to allergist.
