Symptom narrative

Patient picked up unrelated prescription and stated to technician that she was having arm pain from vaccination she received about 2 months ago. She left before talking to her in person, so I followed up via telephone. I asked if I could gather some information regarding her pain that she reported after receiving the vaccination. At no point during the telephone conversation did she seem upset. She stated that she had some swelling in her left arm after receiving the high dose flu vaccine. She also stated she had some pain when raising her arm. She did see a provider that prescribed her prednisone and topical diclofenac, but the medications did not really help her. Upon gathering the information, I told her it would be reported to VAERs. I also recommended she follow up with a doctor if it did not resolve, which she says she may do after the holidays.
