Symptom narrative

Note: I'm not exactly sure which flu vaccine i was given, I only have the covid vaccine details. Pharmacy will know all vaccine details, as they encouraged me to report here. I received both the flu and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines on Monday, Dec. 1 around 5 pm. The next 48 hours I experienced expected symptoms such as fatigue, chills, soreness, and fever. However, on Wednesday, Dec. 3 around 7 pm, I noticed mucusy blood when I went to the bathroom. I usually associate this blood with a period, but it should not have been my period because I had just finished my period about a week ago. In case of any minor spotting, I wore a pantyliner and went to sleep. In the morning, I found my underwear covered in blood and screamed. I went to the bathroom and had multiple clots coming out of me. I put in a fresh pad and was alarmed, how could I be getting my period in less than 2 weeks of having had it? I did not have a partner/did not have sex---there was no way I was pregnant. My periods were regular and consistently within a given range for the past 10 years per my period app. Nothing had changed in my life except for the vaccines. I had no pain but the period blood continued flowing---I bled more in the following two days than I have bled during a period--possibly ever. It was so uncomfortable and tiring that I could not concentrate at work, and I had to go to urgent care. After doing my own research, I learned that many women on an online site had experienced similar symptoms, in fact one post I found outlined a trend that fit my symptoms exactly. I was additionally shocked to find that clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccine did not include menstruation impact as a primary endpoint. I can understand perhaps skipping this in the first round of COVID vaccines, as we were in a pandemic, but there is no excuse for this happening with the most recent versions of the vaccine, in 2025. The lack of clear communication to me about the potential effects of the COVID-19 vaccine on my menstruation was and continues to be deeply concerning to me.
