Patient called and stated that a little while after she received her typhoid vaccine in her right arm, the pain was going up to her shoulder and down to her hand, she could hardly move her arm. Told patient she could apply cold wet compress to the arm and she could take Tylenol to reduce the pain. Patient thought that the shot might have been given too high. Asked patient if she wanted to come in to the clinic to have us to take a look. Patient came back to the clinic, the injection of the typhoid vaccine on the right upper arm was in the appropriate deltoid area. Had another nurse to look at it and she concurred. The other nurse asked if patient had neuropathy or anything in that arm. Patient stated no but she had over extension in that shoulder and sometimes it popped out of the joint. The pain was going down to her had and sometimes throbbing with difficulty lifting her arm. Told patient that she could go to urgent care to further evaluated. Or if it doesn't improve tomorrow, go to urgent care. Patient stated she would take some pain medicine and exercise her arm as much as she could and rubbing it, and continue with cold wet compress. She would call us tomorrow and let us know how she's doing.
