Symptom narrative

In May of 2025 I had an outbreak of shingles over my left eye on forehead and extending to my scalp. I had a severe headache for 6 weeks that required 500 mg of Tylenol every 4 hours (even getting up at night) for 4 weeks and then Tylenol every 4 hours during the day for the last 2 weeks. Tylenol only began working 1 hour after administration and stopped working 1 hour before the next dose. Gabapentin relieved the stabbing headache pain and was taken for about 2 weeks.

Lab data

The dermatologist diagnosed shingles (Dr.) and prescribed Valtrex, that was started approximately 5 days after symptoms first appeared. I went to urgent care for the persistent headache and was sent to the ER due to the proximity to my left eye. Eye test done in the ER suggested that there was no virus affecting the left eye; prescribed gabapentin with the suggested to visit an ophthalmologist. At least a week later an optometrist eye exam confirmed the left eye was not affected.
