Symptom narrative

No adverse event; Medical assistant reported patient was accidently administered an expired dose of VARIVAX on Dec 5, 2025.; This spontaneous report was received from a medical assistant concerning a 12-month-old male patient. The patient's pertinent medical history, past drug reactions or allergies, concurrent conditions and concomitant therapies were not provided. On 05-DEC-2025, the patient was accidently administered and expired dose of Varicella Virus Vaccine Live (Oka-Merck) (VARIVAX), (lot #X024649, expiration date: 11-OCT-2025), once (strength, dose, route, anatomical location were not reported) as prophylaxis. The vaccine was reconstituted with sterile diluent (MERCK STERILE DILUENT) (lot number and expiration date not reported). The patient did not experience any side effects since administration. Product had no prior temperature excursions. The operator of device was a health professional.
