Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV); This is a spontaneous report received from a consumer from medical information team. An 81-year-old female patient received BNT162b2 omicron (lp.8.1) (COMIRNATY (2025-2026 FORMULA)), on 07Dec2025 as dose 1, single (Lot number: NE4289) for covid-19 immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history included: "Dizziness" (unspecified if ongoing); "Postural hypotension" (unspecified if ongoing). Concomitant medication(s) included: INFLUENZA VACCINE taken for immunisation, in 2025 as dose number unknown, single. The patient also took other concomitant therapy. Vaccination history included: Bnt162b2 (Primary immunization series complete), for COVID-19 immunization. The following information was reported: VERTIGO POSITIONAL (non-serious) with onset 13Dec2025, outcome "unknown", described as "Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)". The event "benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (bppv)" required physician office visit. Therapeutic measures were taken as a result of vertigo positional. Additional Information: The patient had the Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine on 07Dec2025 and started getting vertigo on 13Dec2025. A couple of weeks earlier, the patient had the flu vaccine and no problems with that. The patient had Pfizer COVID-19 immunizations when it is available and got it for free through insurance and was up to date with that. The patient had a history of dizziness or postural hypotension, but hadn't been bothered with it lately. It happens especially when standing up or sitting; I always sit by the side of the bed. The patient never jumps up. This was related to another drug, and they halved the dosage of that drug and no problems with that right now. Thus, the patient can differentiate it in her mind and how she feels; she knows what dizziness feels like. On 13Dec2025, it was not dizziness but vertigo; the patient was spinning around and room was spinning. The patient did see an ENT on 15Dec2025, and she was diagnosed with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). The patient was following up with vestibular PT exercises because she did not want to fall. The patient uses a rollator and makes sure she is very close to a wall at all times. The patient would like to make a suggestion on differentiation on the coding process for side effects in case it is not differentiated between dizziness and vertigo in the PI. It probably just gets lumped under dizziness so important to ask patients to describe their symptoms. The patient further asked if there was any reported symptoms or side effects having to do with vertigo since 2020. No follow-up attempts are possible.
