Patient called to report she was experiencing mild itching on her forehead and face after receiving a Twinrix vaccine here on 12/20/25 at the request of her gastroenterologist. She stated she did not have any welts or hives. She was not experiencing any shortness of breath, breathing issues or swelling of the face. She stated she has had Shingles in the past on her face, but over a different area. She stated that she put hydrocortisone cream on the affected area, but it wasn't helping. She also stated that she takes Claritin and famotidine regularly. She stated that she has hydroxyzine and an Epi-pen on hand at home as she has previously experienced anaphylaxis. We discussed the possibilities that this could be an adverse reaction, an allergic reaction, or unrelated. I counseled her on signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and advised her to seek medical attention immediately if she should experience any signs or symptoms of anaphylaxis. She is going to call her gastroenterologist and primary care provider tomorrow to inform them of her symptoms and ask whether she should finish the Twinrix immunization series. I requested that she call us to give us an update.
