The patient entered the vaccine room with his two parents. He was getting a flu shot along with both his parents. He stated that he wanted to go first. His family mentioned that he didn't mind vaccines at all and that he actually likes to watch as it is given. He watched the whole time while I administered the vaccine. He was given the vaccine and the bandage was attached without issue. About 2 seconds after attaching the bandage, he started to lose color in his face and he began dropping towards the ground. His mother caught him as he was falling. He didn't appear to hit his head or obtain any injury during the fall. He regained consciousness right after he fell. I helped him up with his family. I offered to get the nurse practitioner from the clinic and to get him some water and crackers if needed. I got the patient some water, and the nurse practitioner was going to come check on him after they were done with the patient they were examining. Once the patient drank water and relaxed for a few minutes, he looked back to normal and his family said they would sit out in the visiting area chairs for a little while. I asked if there was anything else that I could do for them, and they said they were okay and that they would continue to watch him for the next few hours at home and obtain help if needed.
