Symptom narrative

Upon injection into the deltoid muscle with a 1 inch needle, the needle was stopped midway by something blocking in his arm (possible a muscle knot or blood vessel). The location of the injection site was correct for IM injection. The vaccine was administered either shallow IM route or deep SQ route. Upon removal of the needle, blood did flow down his arm and a temporary blood filled welp formed (about 1/2 inch) for a few seconds. The injection site appeared slightly bruised underneath the skin 10 minutes after injection, but the patient reported no pain.
