On September 6, 2025, I received an influenza vaccination at the pharmacy on [withheld] in [withheld city, state]. The injection was administered very high in my left arm/shoulder. I experienced immediate pain following the injection that was much worse than I have experienced with routine vaccinations, and it has progressively worsened over time. On October 4, I called the pharmacy to ask about the ongoing pain since the vaccine and spoke to [name withheld]. He advised that it was unusual to still have significant pain a month after injection and recommended I see my primary care doctor if it had not improved in another week. On October 14, I was evaluated by my primary care provider and initially treated with ibuprofen, warm/cold compresses, and gentle range-of-motion exercises without improvement. After that, I called my primary provider to update them at which time I was prescribed a course of oral prednisone, which did not relieve symptoms. Due to persistent and worsening left shoulder/upper arm pain, I am currently scheduled for further evaluation with ultrasound and X-ray. At the time of this report, symptoms are ongoing and unresolved. This continued shoulder pain and stiffness is making it difficult to sleep and perform daily tasks, and is also affecting my mental health as I am unable to workout and lift weights as I did prior to the injection.
