Patient Reported Large Swollen area, that was hard, sensitive and warm to touch. Patient seemed otherwise in good health, alert and responsive. Examined the area on 1/5--determined to be a hive, or other raised area, of roughly 3 inch diameter. When lightly pressed, she did report sensitivity to touch. The area was only slightly raised from the skin and from patient report had gone down significantly with ice application. No other skin seemed to be affected. Initial impressions were to treat for allergic response. Offered to give benadryl injection or have patient use benadryl by mouth at home. She chose to take oral benadryl and advised her to use 50 mg at night for up to 3 days. Furthermore she was advised to report to the ER if swelling gets worse or breathing is affected in any way.
