Pictures and a message from patient's mom of rash lesions on neck and chest area started our discourse yesterday resulting in telemedicine visit. Patient complained of burning on his body the evening prior. On 1/14 morning, he woke up with blistery lesions on his left neck and chest saying they "burn" - some of them started to crust over and he started to complain that they were itchy. Denies any fevers, respiratory or GI symptoms, no lesions on legs, no changes to activity. Oatmeal bath and Calamine treatment to lesions for symptoms relief Using Tylenol to help with burning pain. Patient's rash is most consistently with POX lesions in various stages. He received Varicella vaccine 6 days ago - rash however is not just localized it is disseminated across multiple dermatomes. Following-up today.
Spoke with clinical center so patient can get on an protocol to get the lesion swabbed and possibly have a WORKUP done for underlying immune problems which resulted in this adverse consequence, (highly unusual). Date of work-up to be determined.
