A 15-year-old female patient received BNT162b2 (BNT162B2), on 08Jul2021 as dose 2, single (Batch/Lot number: unknown) for covid-19 immunisation. The patient's relevant medical history included: "asthma" (unspecified if ongoing). The patient's concomitant medications were not reported. Vaccination history included: BNT162b2 (DOSE 1, SINGLE), administration date: 16Jun2021, for COVID-19 immunization, reaction(s): "intractable headaches", "inability to write/ is unable to complete schoolwork without an individual dictating her work", "seizure-like activity", "anxiety", "stress". The following information was reported: SEIZURE LIKE PHENOMENA (medically significant), DISEASE RECURRENCE (medically significant) all with onset Jul2021, outcome "unknown" and all described as "seizure like activity returned"; DYSPNOEA (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "shortness of breath"; HEADACHE (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "intractable headaches"; FATIGUE (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; VISION BLURRED (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "Blurred vision"; INSOMNIA (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; TIC (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "motor and oral tics"; TINNITUS (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; MYALGIA (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "muscle pain"; AMNESIA (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "memory loss"; EAR PAIN (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; CHEST PAIN (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; EPISTAXIS (non-serious), outcome "unknown"; HYPERHIDROSIS (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "diaphoresis"; DYSGRAPHIA (non-serious), outcome "unknown", described as "is unable to complete schoolwork without an individual dictating her work". Clinical course: The patient was a healthy and vibrant 15-year-old girl. Given her history of asthma, her parents were concerned that if she contracted Covid-19, she could possibly have complications. Since the (Withheld) promote the vaccine as "safe and effective" to the public, patient's parents felt that she should receive this vaccine to stay safe from Covid-19 and to lessen her chances of a severe bout of Covid 19. Thus, on 16Jun2021, patient received her first Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination through their county's public health department. Within 24 hours of vaccination, the patient developed intractable headaches, the inability to write, and she could no longer ride horses or play sports. One week after vaccination, the patient presented to the emergency room with seizure-like activity. In retrospect, this was just the beginning of a series of catastrophic events that would leave the patient incapacitated and unable to live the life she once knew. Over the next several weeks, the patient returned to the emergency room several times with uncontrolled seizure-like activity. Her symptoms were blamed on "stress and anxiety." On 08Jul2021, the patient's parents, still confident in the Covid-19 vaccination and not warned against further doses by any healthcare professionals, proceeded to have (Name Withheld) vaccinated with her second do se of Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine. Within two days of the second dose, seizure like activity returned along with a myriad of other symptoms. To date, patient's mother has logged over 40 symptoms including but not limited to fatigue, intractable headaches, insomnia, blurred vision, motor and oral tics, tinnitus, muscle pain, memory loss, ear pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, diaphoresis, and epistaxis. (Name Withheld) has no answers from the medical profession and continues to suffer greatly. What she does know was that before she received the Covid-19 vaccine, she was a happy, healthy, and normally functioning individual. The patient was once an honor roll student, now attends school with accommodations and was unable to complete schoolwork without an individual dictating her work. She was unable to participate in sports or equestrian riding. The patient's mother believed that her symptoms were caused by the Covid-19 vaccine she received, and so, on 31Aug2021, she submitted a VAERS report detailing these events. The information on the batch/lot number for BNT162b2 will be requested and submitted if and when received.; Sender's Comments: Based on the available information, it appears reasonable that the suspect drug did not contribute to the reported SEIZURE LIKE PHENOMENA , DISEASE RECURRENCE that most likely were related to the underlying conditions of the patient. The impact of this report on the benefit/risk profile of the Pfizer product is evaluated as part of Pfizer procedures for safety evaluation, including the review and analysis of aggregate data for adverse events. Any safety concern identified as part of this review, as well as any appropriate action in response, will be promptly notified to Regulatory Authorities, Ethics Committees and Investigators, as appropriate.
