Suspected vaccination failure; I have shingles now; This serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingrix) for prophylaxis. Co-suspect products included Varicella zoster vaccine live (Oka/Merck) (Zostavax) for prophylaxis. On an unknown date, the patient received Shingrix and Zostavax. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingrix and an unknown time after receiving Zostavax, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: Suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant) and shingles (Verbatim: I have shingles now). The patient was treated with Antivirals. The outcome of the vaccination failure was not reported and the outcome of the shingles was not resolved. It was unknown if the reporter considered the vaccination failure and shingles to be related to Shingrix. The reporter considered the vaccination failure and shingles to be not reported if related to Zostavax. The company considered the vaccination failure to be unrelated to Shingrix. Additional Information: GSK Receipt Date: 16-JAN-2026 This case was reported by a patient via interactive digital media. The patient reported that he/she had received both types of immunizations Zostavax and Shingrix and he/she had shingles now (at the time of reporting). The patient further mentioned that there were no blisters, but it hurt, and an antiviral had not made a difference yet. It had started off looking like spider bites, and since patient had been immunized, he/she did not suspect shingles at first. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding completion of primary vaccination schedule, time to onset and laboratory test confirming shingles were unknown at the time of reporting.
