Ever since she had been getting the vaccination, she had not been having episodes of IBS; Covid/ took COVID test again/it was positive/ think one day she had a mild fever; had such abdominal/ she thought she was dying and she thought she had diverticulitis attack; This spontaneous case was reported by a consumer and describes the occurrence of ABDOMINAL PAIN (had such abdominal/ she thought she was dying and she thought she had diverticulitis attack), COVID-19 (Covid/ took COVID test again/it was positive/ think one day she had a mild fever) and THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE UNEXPECTED (Ever since she had been getting the vaccination, she had not been having episodes of IBS) in a 70-year-old female patient who received mRNA-1273.815 (SPIKEVAX 2023-2024) for COVID-19 prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included Pneumonia. Previously administered products included for COVID-19 prophylaxis: Moderna (gotten a yearly Moderna vaccine every November since they came out) in November 2021 and Moderna (gotten a yearly Moderna vaccine every November since they came out) in November 2022. Past adverse reactions to the above products included No adverse effect with Moderna and Moderna. Concurrent medical conditions included Hypersensitivity NOS (very sensitive to things), Allergy (terrible allergies), Irritable bowel syndrome and Diverticulosis (Colon issues). In November 2023, the patient received dose of mRNA-1273.815 (SPIKEVAX 2023-2024) (Intramuscular use) 1 dosage form. On 08-Jan-2024, the patient experienced COVID-19 (Covid/ took COVID test again/it was positive/ think one day she had a mild fever). In January 2024, the patient experienced ABDOMINAL PAIN (had such abdominal/ she thought she was dying and she thought she had diverticulitis attack). On an unknown date, the patient experienced THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE UNEXPECTED (Ever since she had been getting the vaccination, she had not been having episodes of IBS). At the time of the report, ABDOMINAL PAIN (had such abdominal/ she thought she was dying and she thought she had diverticulitis attack), COVID-19 (Covid/ took COVID test again/it was positive/ think one day she had a mild fever) and THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE UNEXPECTED (Ever since she had been getting the vaccination, she had not been having episodes of IBS) outcome was unknown. DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS (normal ranges are provided in parenthesis if available): On 07-Jan-2024, SARS-CoV-2 test: Negative. On 08-Jan-2024, SARS-CoV-2 test: Positive. No concomitant medication was reported. In the first week of November 2023, the patient received Spikevax vaccine. On 08-Jan-2024, the patient was tested positive for Covid after 5 minutes exposure to infected family member. No hospitalization nor treatment was required. The patient had used the Moderna right since the whole start of the thing. And had kept up with the shots like she was supposed to, which was pretty much been yearly. The patient was only around family member for 5 minutes. The patient had come down with COVID 19. She had never felt so tired and wondered what was wrong with her. Normally very active, she found herself dozing off in a chair and feeling weird. This prompted her to take a COVID test, which initially came back negative. The following morning on Monday, she felt slightly "off," though not truly sick. She felt more sinus related, consistent with her history of allergies. She tested again, and this time the results were positive. She took a second test because she could not believe the result. She never developed a cough and only experienced a mild fever for one day. She contacted her doctor to report the COVID, noting that she did not actually feel ill and overall felt fine. She did not get the cough, did not develop a sore throat, brain fog, or other typical symptoms. However, she did lose her sense of taste and smell, which she found unsettling, although both senses eventually returned. On day six, she was not so fine. Patient had colon issues, diverticulosis and IBS. All of a sudden, she had such abdominal, that she thought she was dying and thought she had diverticulitis attack. She reported these symptoms to her gastrointestinal healthcare provider, who told her that she had COVID colon. It really hit her colon hard, and it took probably until the end of March for her to feel like herself again.
