I had an onset of intense itching about 3 days after the injection along a clear line from the left side of the base of my skull up along the back of my head over the crown. For a few days it extended over to my left temple and included pain in my left ear. The intense itching was in a very distinct line which is still intensely itchy at the back of my head on the left along the nerve path a month later. I don't believe there was a rash or blisters, just what felt like intense nerve irritation which is still present. I have never had an outbreak of shingles. I did have chickenpox a child. I did have the expected other responses to this first dose of the vaccine including soreness at the injection site and fever and malaise for a few nights.
