Patient reported prior to vaccine administration that increased anxiety is experienced when receiving vaccines. Thus, extra time and concern were taken to ensure patient was comfortable, safe, and unhurried. Shortly after administering the vaccine, patient described light headedness, and asked if he could lie on floor to make him more comfortable. Some water was provided and a cold wet towelette. Patient was coherent. His signifcant other (spouse) present in room throughout, duration. Dialogue was exchanged. He indicated that he felt slightly better but seemed very tentative. Pharmacist (myself) offered to contact emergency services. He was reluctant at first then agreed to the offer. EMTs arrived on the scene and observed for next 30minutes. Patient agreed to be transported after initial reluctance. EMT indicated that dehydration and low BG could have been contributing factors. BP was normal range.
