I still came down with shingles not once but twice; could not eat; I was totally incapacitated for a week/ I don't have much energy; Suspected vaccination failure; This serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. Co-suspect products included Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. On an unknown date, the patient received the 2nd dose of Shingles vaccine and the 1st dose of Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingles vaccine and Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: Suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant), shingles (Verbatim: I still came down with shingles not once but twice), unable to eat (Verbatim: could not eat) and loss of energy (Verbatim: I was totally incapacitated for a week/ I don't have much energy). The patient had both of shingles vaccines and still came down with shingles not once but twice. It was started on the right side of face and ear the first time but was quite mild. The patient started taking medication in less than 48 hours from when it started. The patient had it for the second time right after the new year which started in the same place but spread over most of scalp, forehead and over to left ear. The patient again took medication in less than 36 hours but this time the effects of the shingles was brutal. the patient was totally incapacitated for a week, couldn't eat, all wanted to do was sleep. Thankfully the rash had gone but don't have much energy and had to rest every few minutes. The patient would still advise people to take the vaccine because the patient know that if hadn't, experience with it would have been far worse. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding time to onset for shingles and laboratory confirmation regarding shingles were unknown at the time of reporting.
