Suspected vaccination failure; full blown shingles; This serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. Co-suspect products included Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. On an unknown date, the patient received the 2nd dose of Shingles vaccine and the 1st dose of Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, more than a year after receiving Shingles vaccine and Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: Suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant) and shingles (Verbatim: full blown shingles). The outcome of the vaccination failure and shingles were not reported. The patient received both vaccines three years ago (in 2023), as patient knew people who had experienced shingles and wanted to avoid it. However, last fall (in 2025), the patient noticed a rash on their right hip while driving home. The patient initially thought it was just a simple rash, but it turned out to be full blown shingles and was continued to experience nerve damage, pain, and abnormal sensations, placing them in the small percentage for whom the vaccine did not work. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding laboratory confirmation regarding shingles were unknown at the time of reporting.
