8-month old patient came to Nurse Visit to receive early administeration of MMR due to upcoming travels. This RN prepared and administered Varicella and noticed mistake only when this RN went to cancel Hepatitis A administration as parents denied wanting patient to receive Hepatitis A on that day. This RN spoke to Dr. who advised to educate parents about side effects to monitor and treat for as well as recommended giving MMR on the same day otherwise there would need to be a 4 week wait between live vaccines. This RN spoke to parents and notified of the mistake. This RN explained the side effects to monitor for and about the administration of live vaccines. Mom decided for patient to receive MMR due to concern of exposure while in [withheld country]. This RN prepared MMR vaccine, mom confirmed vaccine and gave consent for MMR to be given. This RN explained adverse effects to monitor for and treat. This RN encouraged parents to reach out with questions or concerns.
