massive bruise; also had a lot of fatigue; This spontaneous case was reported by a consumer and describes the occurrence of CONTUSION (massive bruise) and FATIGUE (also had a lot of fatigue) in a 69-year-old female patient who received mRNA-1273.251 (Spikevax LP.8.1 PFS) for COVID-19 prophylaxis. The suspect product included Pre-filled Syringe injection for COVID-19 prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included Organ transplant NOS in 2025. Previously administered products included for COVID-19 prophylaxis: SPIKEVAX NOS (never had a reaction at all/never had any bruising or issues); for Product used for unknown indication: PFIZER BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE (never had any bruising or issues) and COVID-19 vaccine (had probably gotten 4 or 5 COVID vaccines). Past adverse reactions to the above products included No adverse effect with COVID-19 vaccine, PFIZER BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE and SPIKEVAX NOS. Concurrent medical conditions included Immunocompromised. Concomitant products included Tacrolimus (Prograf) and Mycophenolate sodium (Myfortic) for Prophylaxis against multiple organ transplant rejection. On 27-Jan-2026, the patient received dose of mRNA-1273.251 (Spikevax LP.8.1 PFS) (Intramuscular use) .5 milliliter. On an unknown date, the patient started Pre-filled Syringe (unknown route) at an unspecified dose. In January 2026, the patient experienced CONTUSION (massive bruise) and FATIGUE (also had a lot of fatigue). At the time of the report, CONTUSION (massive bruise) and FATIGUE (also had a lot of fatigue) had not resolved. No vaccines were given within past 4 weeks. It was stated that patient asked her doctor if she should get a COVID shot and he said yes because she had an organ transplant in 2025 and was on all kinds of anti-rejection medications. Patient really did not want to get the shot, but she understood why he suggested it. She got the vaccine at a pharmacy, and nobody told her that there was more than 1 option (Spikevax and MNEXSPIKE). She ended up getting the Spikevax vaccine and it was disconcerting for her to find out, after the fact, that there were two vaccines. She got a massive bruise within 2 days of the vaccine. She still had a massive bruise and had COVID shots in the past, including Moderna, and she never had a reaction at all. She also had a lot of fatigue for the first 24 to 36 hours. The fact that there was never any information given about the fact that there was more than one vaccine, she certainly would have preferred to have gotten this newer vaccine because she was over 65 and immunocompromised. It had nearly twice the higher immune response. She said that people who were getting these injections should know that there were options. She was all for big pharma because she had got drugs keeping her alive, but at the same time, didn't want to be injecting body with stuff that was unnecessary. The only reason she found out about mNEXSPIKE was because she went on website to find out how long these bruises normally last. She was currently on a whole lot of medications including anti-rejection medications. It was unknown if the patient experienced any additional symptoms/events. Treatment medication was not reported.
