I had three of them; This non-serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of extra dose administered in a adult female patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. Previously administered products included Varicella zoster vaccine (received first dose of Shingles vaccine on an unknown date at the age of 60 years) and Varicella zoster vaccine (received second dose of Shingles vaccine on an unknown date). Concurrent medical conditions included diabetes. Family history included shingles (patient's aunt had them and it took her a couple years to get rid of that pain and stuff). On an unknown date, the patient received the 3rd dose of Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced extra dose administered (Verbatim: I had three of them). The patient stated that she had gotten her shots, but she had explained that she could not get them until she was 60 around her area. As soon as her pharmacist saw her, the pharmacist said she had never seen anybody that could not wait to turn 60. The patient stated that her aunt had shingles and it took her a couple of years to get rid of the pain and stuff, and she said she never wanted to have shingles. The patient went over because the physician had said she would probably be able to get the shots because she was a diabetic. She went to the pharmacist, but they said they could not give it because the state said fifty or 60. So when she turned 60, she ran over there and said she wanted the shots. They laughed at her, but she stated that she had three of them. The patient further stated that she had the first one before they built their new building and moved, and while they were moving, they packed all their old records from the old building and stuck them up in the attic or upstairs. She said they told her they could not go through all those boxes. The other pharmacist called after the patient said her physician had said they needed papers for it, because she needed a little card for it around there. The pharmacist said he would call the state and see if he could give her another one because there were two shots to that, and he said they might have to start the first one over again. When he called, they said it would not hurt and that yes, they could give her the third one so she would make sure she had at least two of them, but the patient stated she had three. She said she had three of them already. They only gave two, but she had three because it was a mistake when they moved. She stated that she might still be able to get them, but she did not know because she already had the shots, and she had that booster one, that extra one, so it was boosting. She said she might not even get shingles and hoped she never did, but stated they were painful, very painful. The batch number was not provided, and unable to contact the reporter.
