Patient came to pharmacy to receive travel vaccines recommended via travel clinic. Patient informed pharmacy that she was extremely nervous. She mentioned on the intake form yes to the question if she has ever fainted or felt dizzy with prior vaccination. Her response was that she has only felt dizzy and that is because she gets extremely nervous. She verified to the pharmacist that she has never fainted. patient was asked to stay under observation and few minutes after receiving the Hep A shot patient complained of feeling dizzy. within 5 minutes she has narrowed vision, hands turned inwards and her color changed to ash white and she passed out. Pharmacy called EMS and followed the instructions until the paramedics arrived. while waiting on paramedics., patient fully regained consciousness , then felt sick in her stomach , patient threw up and regained full consciousness. paramedics examined her fully , her heart rate and blood pressure were really low. Paramedics pricked her finger to check her blood glucose levels and she felt dizzy and almost fainted again. Upon regaining consciousness she informed paramedics that suffers from Vasovagal Syncope Syndrome. She was taken to the emergency room due to her low blood pressure and heart rate. Patient did not mention about the syndrome to the pharmacist. An hour after she was taken to the ER, patient's mother called to inform that she was doing alright.
