Suspected vaccination failure; Now it comes back about once a year; This serious case was reported by a consumer via interactive digital media and described the occurrence of vaccination failure in a elderly patient who received Herpes zoster (Shingles vaccine) for prophylaxis. The patient's past medical history included shingles (At age 81 patient had first case of Shingles and was pure hell for 17 days). On an unknown date, the patient received Shingles vaccine. On an unknown date, an unknown time after receiving Shingles vaccine, the patient experienced vaccination failure (Verbatim: Suspected vaccination failure) (serious criteria GSK medically significant) and shingles (Verbatim: Now it comes back about once a year). The patient at age 81 had first case of Shingles and it was pure hell for 17 days with continual non relenting pain. After 17 days it broke for a day and slowly returned to normal after a month more. The patient got the shots later and now it comes back about once a year but was very mild. After 10 years patient will get the shots again. This case was considered as suspected vaccination failure as details regarding completion of primary schedule, time to onset for shingles and laboratory confirmation regarding shingles were unknown at the time of reporting.
