Product administered to patient of inappropriate age

Symptom narrative

RotaTeq was inadvertently administered outside the approved age range (maximum age for final dose is 8 months). Mother was informed immediately of the error. Based on VAERS safety data from 2006-2019, no unexpected adverse events have been identified when rotavirus vaccines are inadvertently given to children =8 months of age. The primary theoretical concern is intussusception as it is with any child receiving RotaTeq, though risk is low at this age.
