I get vaccinated at pharmacy (name withheld). I get flu and covid vaccines in one visit in contralateral arms (one in left, the other in right). No problems ever with flu vaccine. I had minor pain with half a dozen (all recommended) Pfizer covid-19 vaccines. I never received moderna covid-19 vaccine prior to 9/2024. All injections below were done at pharmacy (name/address withheld). Flu vaccine was administered in contralateral arm to covid vaccine during same visit. Moderna covid19 vaccine administered left arm 9/2024 caused extreme pain beginning a day after injection, worsening to excruciating with certain movements and very gradually improving over 10 months. Today (~18 mo) I have residual mobility constraint from pain. Physical medicine doctor I saw for the pain 12/24 thought that the injection (given by a pharma tech) was done improperly, too close to rotator cuff. Moderna covid19 vaccine administered right arm 10/2025 caused extreme pain beginning a day after injection, worsening and very gradually improving over 5 months. This injection was given by an RN in the correct location. Today there remains severe pain with some movements. I exercise and stretch the arm over pain in hopes it will shorten the course. As a biologist with groundbreaking patents and publications on the treatment of inflammatory and immunological conditions, I think inflammation should be avoided in my case. I'd like to take aspirin, but I have medication restriction of NSAIDS. Also, I have (longstanding), inflammatory heart problems that are likely worsened by inflammation of the kind I report here, just like asthma patients can suffer symptoms in response to irritants or pungent stimuli. Moderna vaccine may be advancing my heart disease and doing other bad things to me. I asked for Pfizer vaccine 10/25 and was assured by pharmacy pharmacist I would be given Pfizer. The pharmacist lied. When I confirmed with nurse after injection, pharmacy gave me Moderna again. I am notifying CDC because this is the kind of adverse effect that should be catalogued to sift for other similar incidences and, when enough, to look for effects of the inflammation. This is not a systemic pain response, but it is locally severe.
