Patient called the pharmacy 45 minutes after receiving these vaccines and reported noticing a purple blotch, looking like a bruise that appeared on his cheek less than an inch in size. Pt denied having any fever, body aches, stomach pain, trouble breathing, or tongue swelling. Advised patient to monitor for additional symptoms and report to ER if any anaphylactic symptoms appeared. Advised patient it may be the rare but known Henoch-Schonlein purpura reaction to the hepatitis B vaccine. Followed up with patient the following day around lunchtime to see if any thing further developed--it had not. The blotch appeared the same in size and color and no further symptoms were noted.
