Patient had a flare of prurigo nodularis in the days to weeks following the vaccination. The skin condition had been well controlled at a clinic visit on 1/15/2026, just two days before the vaccination, which was administered at the patient's pharmacy. A week or so later, his skin condition flared generally, requiring topical steroids. Other factors that may have played into this reaction were a move from a mobile trailer into an apartment around the same time and a brief interruption of his HIV treatment in early February as he settled into the new location. He had a doctor visit on 3/26/2026 after sharing photos of his skin.
Prurigo nodularis (controlled)
HIV disease, hyperlipidemia, chronic pain
Truvada, Tivicay, rilpivirine, gabapentin, atorvastatin
Sulfa drugs, latex
None needed - a through skin exam was consistent with his prior episodes of prurigo nodularis, which was diagnosed in 2023 after unsuccessful treatment for scabies.
